AlertU Messaging System Adopted by SSU

alertu.jpegBeginning this semester, Sonoma State University has engaged "AlertU," a system that communicates official information during critical SSU emergencies via a text message to your cell phone. AlertU replaces our previous mass notification system. AlertU will ONLY be employed for campus emergencies; it will NOT be used to send general messages.

You must opt-in to AlertU to ensure you will receive mass notifications during SSU critical emergencies. You will not automatically receive this information without opting-in.

Please take a moment to sign-up now and follow the instructions below:

1. With your cellphone, text the letters "SSU" to 25-3788. (25-3788 is the text phone number to the ALERTU system.)

2. You will receive a 'welcome' text message.

3. Reply with the letter "Y" for yes.

4. Program 25-3788 into your phone's address book under the name SSU ALERTU. This will allow you to recognize the sender if an emergency message is sent. (This is an important part of the sign-up process).

You may wish to have others in your family receive emergency information. If so, please pass this information along to them.

Thank you for taking the time to prepare for emergencies. This is only one of the tools utilized during emergencies. Please take a moment to review all emergency preparedness information at http://www.sonoma.edu/ps/emergency/.
