On behalf of the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Division, I am happy to announce the hiring of Mark Fabionar, our new Director of the Multi-Cultural Center. Mark brings with him a wealth of experience working with students, faculty and staff in higher education. He comes to us from CSU Sacramento where he is currently an adjunct faculty member in the Ethnic Studies Department. In addition, he has taught at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Sacramento City College, and CSU Fullerton.
Mark was previously the director for the Center for Multicultural Programs and Services at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he led the development and delivery of campus and community programs to students. These included distinguished speaker series, cultural awareness and social workshops, international education events, cultural arts and performance poetry series, mentoring programs, and public cultural festivals. In addition, he was instrumental in creating the university's first cross-cultural leadership conference. At Sacramento City College, he was the project director for the RISE Center, a student services center for underrepresented students on academic probation.
I want to offer my sincere gratitude to co-chairs of the MCC Director search Gustavo Flores and Christina Baker as well as the rest of the members of the search committee. They did a stellar job and have helped us hire an excellent director.
Mark begins his work with us on March 19, 2012. Please help us welcome him to our campus community.
