Sonoma State University deeply appreciates the support of our donors and the difference their gifts make to our students and programs, says Erik Greeny, Vice-president of Development.
"When you make a donation by December 31 to the University, you aren't just making a monetary contribution - you're perpetuating your own values and making a difference in the next generation of students," he says,
Greeny offered some year-end giving tips as the December 31 deadline approaches.
Talk to your financial advisor. Take the time to do some planning while you still have the opportunity to make a year-end gift. Try to get a handle on your tax liability for the year. Did your unearned income increase? Did you sell any appreciated assets? Will you owe more taxes? This alone may motivate you to increase your giving before December 31.
Make sure your gift is dated and postmarked no later than December 31, 2012. The date you deliver or mail your donation is generally recognized as the gift date for tax purposes.
Give online no later than 10 p.m. (PST) on December 31, 2012. SSU accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Make your online gift at https://commerce.cashnet.com/ssugivetodev.
