The versatile Matt Wilson - drummer, composer, bandleader, producer and teacher -brings his group Arts & Crafts to Sonoma State University on Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Weill Hall. The concert is presented by the jazz studies program and includes an improvisation workshop at 3 p.m. the same day in the Green Music Center.
Wilson is a veteran of more than 250 jazz albums as leader, co-leader or sideman. Based in New York, he can be heard with one of his four groups - Matt Wilson Quartet, Arts & Crafts, Christmas Tree-O and the Carl Sandburg Project - as well as with Joe Lovano, John Scofield, Charlie Haden and Lee Konitz. Arts & Crafts most recent album is the highly acclaimed An Attitude for Gratitude (Palmetto) which features settings of "Little Boy with the Sad Eyes" and "There's No You" as well as originals by Wilson and Gary Versace.
