Adrian Praetzellis, Director of SSU's Anthropological Studies Center, has been appointed to the State Historical Resources Commission (SHRC). SHRC is a nine-member State review board, appointed by the Governor, with responsibilities for the identification, registration, and preservation of California's cultural heritage.
Praetzellis has held multiple positions at Sonoma State University since 1983, including professor of anthropology and lecturer. He is a member of the Society for California Archaeology and the Society for Historical Archaeology. Praetzellis is a registered professional archaeologist and earned a Master of Arts degree and doctorate degree in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem.
One of the other new appointees, AnMarie Medin, is an SSU grad with an MA in Cultural Resources Management.
