The Sonoma State University Seawolves have been picked to finish as North Division champions this year, according a preseason poll of California Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball head coaches.
The two-time defending CCAA champion Seawolves are unanimously expected to win the North Division championship this year after returning from another record-breaking season in 2015 with an overall record of 26-4, including a conference record of 19-1. The Seawolves took home the conference's regular season title for the second straight year before earning the inaugural CCAA Tournament banner.
Despite the graduation of Sonoma State's two-time CCAA Player of the Year Caylie Seitz, All-American Madelyn Densberger, and other players, 15-year head coach Bear Grassl still has great returning talent to help lead another young roster.
The Seawolves open the 2016 season at the Cal State San Marcos tournament September 2-3. Sonoma State then hosts the Division II West Region Volleyball Showcase September 8-10.
