STT LG Board Meeting Minutes: February 28, 2006
In attendance: Sandra De Bella, Deborah Kindy, Nicole Norris, Stefani Vella, Kelly Andersen, Mary Lou Schmidt, Patricia Rozenoff, Melissa, Rae Rehn, Lisa Burns
The Board meeting was held at the Double Tree Hotel in the Vineyard Room at 5:00 PM. This was a dinner meeting that included a presentation, “The Journey of a Nurse Researcher” by Dr. Anita Catlin, RN, FNP, MSN, DNSc.
Minutes from last months meetings were changed as follows: Next months open business meeting location will be held at Rae Rehn’s house. Minutes are now approved.
Discussion held about raffle. STT will be raffling off a trip to a nursing conference of the winner’s choice. The trip will be worth about a $1,000.
Melissa read the financial report aloud: There is a discrepancy of $1800 that needs to be addressed with Anita Catlin. The budget also needs to include the Nursing Leadership Conference. Sandra suggested that STT do a separate mailing for donations. It is important that we appeal to the upcoming 15-Year Anniversary. Money that is presently on deposit at Luther Burbank Savings will be moved to the Redwood Credit Union. The board asked for some clarification from Melissa regarding funds available in our accounts other than our income and expense accounts.
Rae reported on the Evidenced based practice conference: It is confirmed that Carole Heath will speak at the conference. Deb has volunteered to find out if we can use the Stevenson computer lab. It is unclear how much we need to budget to make the flyers for the conference. This includes business size envelopes, labels and postage. If flyers are mailed from SSU there is no cost. It was suggested that $250 will be budgeted for the conference. The next meeting for conference planning will take place next week.
New Scholarships plan and discussion: In an effort to contribute to getting more nursing teachers in the classroom STT will sponsor a scholarship at the Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate level. Scholarship requirements need to be decided. Members voted on amounts to set each scholarship at. The BSN scholarship will be in the amount of $500, the Masters scholarship will be in the amount of $750, and the Doctorate Scholarship will be in the amount of $2,500. We need to remember what the original goal of these scholarships are; to bring in teachers at the Ph.D. level. The Master’s scholarship is going to focus on leadership, and the Ph.D. scholarship will focus on the need for teachers in the North Bay. $4,000 needs to be raised. After a brief discussion on the amount and nature scholarships to be offered by Lambda Gamma the discussion was tabled until the next meeting.
Goals:
Induction Planning: We need to make sure that BJ is going to do the program. Deb is going to get flowers. Induction will be held April 15, 2006

Sandra will send out thank you cards for the donations received thus far.
Kelly Andersen was sworn into the position of by-law Chair, Stefani Vella was sworn into the position of Secretary, and Nicole Norris was sworn into the Newsletter editor.
