General Board Meeting Minutes 3/31
IN ATTENDENCE
· Deb Kindy, Stefani Vella, Sandra De Bella, Rae Rehn, Patricia Rozenoff, KC Grigsby, Geri Tribbel, Kathleen Rockett Zimmerman, Kelly Anderson, Nicole Norris
MEETING IS CALLED TO ORDER
MINUTES
· The minutes from the 2/28/06 dinner meeting are approved
FINANCIAL REPORT
· Melissa was not in attendance to present the annual budget
· Board voted to increase annual dues from $85 to $100. KC discussed that students might not be able to afford this increase in dues. We will ask Becky to email all new potential member informing them about the Edith Anderson Membership scholarship that is available for those in financial need.
· Report on fundraising: Kelly Anderson will check the SSU STT mailbox for donation checks. Kelly is going to email the names and addresses of donors to Sandra and she will mail the checks to Melissa. Sandra will mail thank you cards
· Anita’s $1,800: Anita has the $1,800 so there is no discrepancy in the books.
· Kaiser has submitted a Research proposal for a Noise Reduction Project and would like STT to donate $1,500.
· STT Cords: Deb is going to order 50 cords and bring them to the induction ceremony to sell to anyone who still needs one.
EVIDENCED BASED PRACTICE CONFERENCE (June 9, 2006)
· Conference will start in the Library so all attending should park in the “J” Lot and will need to pay to park
· Flyers are currently being typed up and will be mailed to all STT members on April 4th. Kelly Anderson, Sandra DeBella, and Rae Rehn will be in charge of this mailing on April 4th. There will be a plug about the STT newsletter and soon to be updated website on this flyer. Sandra will clarify with Becky regarding how these flyers will be mailed out. Can we send bulk mail through SSU?
· Patricia is going to check on the CEU certificates
NEWSLETTER: Nicole Norris
· The Spring Newsletter was submitted to Becky today, 3/21
· Nicole will start updating the STT website next month
· The next newsletter will be in the Fall. It will include induction news, awards, pictures, and SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
· Nicole is going to add to the Spring Newsletter, information regarding Kathleen Rockett winning the Nursing Conference raffle at the spring dinner meeting
NEW SCHOLARSHIP/DISCUSSION
· A sub committee will be formed to write the criteria for the three new leadership scholarships. The committee will be Sandra Debella, Deb Kindy, KC Grigsby, and we will ask Melissa or Mary Lou if they would also like to join.
· Applications can be emailed to North Bay Networks members through Rae
· In order to get the word out to the Bachelor’s and Master’s students, teachers need to talk about these scholarships in their classes. Ph.D. students will receive information regarding the scholarships via membership mail. A list serve of all STT members needs to be made for mailing purposes.
· Applications will be due May 23, 2006 for discussion at the May 23rd meeting
· Information regarding these scholarships will also be mailed on April 4th by the mailing committee.
· Scholarships will be awarded in August for the Fall semester
GOALS FOR THIS YEAR DISSCUSSION AND SUGGESTIONS
· Mary Lour suggested that we start “conference calls” for meetings that we don’t physically need to be at. Many board members feel that this will be too expensive.
INDUCTION PLANNING
· Deb: Deb will order 50 STT graduation cords and bring them to the induction ceremony. Deb will be in charge of making a corsage for KC as well as getting the flowers for the ceremony.
· Patricia: BJ was unable to access the old program through cork express. Nicole Norris will recreate the programs in a Microsoft Document. We will try to have a power point presentation for the orientation. CV equipment will be needed.
· Kathleen: Kathleen is in charge of the awards for the ceremony. Janice Mauro will receive an award for mentoring, Karin Reese will receive an award for excellence, Kathy McCarthy will receive an award for excellence, and Fern Cutlip will receive an award for clinical excellence.
· KC: KC will lead the orientation for the inductees. Kelly, Stefani and Nicole will talk to the inductees from a undergraduates perspective.
· A slide show of Carole Heath’s trip to Zimbabwe will be shown.
· Board members need to arrive at 9:30am for the BM and to set up.
15TH ANNIVERSARY FUNDRAISER
· Fundraising letter: Sandra showed the Board the letter whe wrote for the 15th Anniversary Fundraiser. The Board requested that description and application for the new scholarships be included in this letter. The letter will be prepared for mailing the same day the EBP flyer is prepared but will be mailed several days before the flyer to keep attention separated. Mailing particulars were discussed above.
· Committee for mailing: The mailing committee consisting of Kelly Anderson, Sandra DeBella, and Rae Rehn will do the mailing on April 4th
· Printing thank you cards for donations: Sandra will print the thank you cards.
MEMBERSHIP
· Mary Lou is going off the board
REQUESTS
· The Pinning Ceremony Club is requesting that STT donate $600
