Call to order at 0940

Minutes from August 22nd and Sept. 26th meetings read and some corrections to the Sept. minutes needed.

Workshop

The class was canceled due to very few resignations received. Discussion about what might have gone wrong. 1) Mailing list is not current, 2) Mailing occurred late (only one month before class), 3) Mailing did not even reach Board member's homes, 4) Flier stated registration closing date Oct 1st (should have been expended, 5) No phone # to contact, 6) Marketed to the wrong audience, 7) no contact person at different facilities. Ideas: Use newsletter to see what programs members want; do workshop at another time; take it off campus; break up mailing list by area. Losses: $119 for printing and mailing.

Newsletter

Will be folded and ready for mailing at the Nov. 28th meeting. The newsletter will contain 1) Announcement of the Feb27th dinner meeting. Place to be determined. Debbie Klaas will speak on her research with the Native American population. 2) Obituaries for Lynn Lipsher and Mary Sewright. 3) Announcement of the WEB site and question as to how it can be used to support membership interest. Also will request member's email addresses. 4) Announce the newsletter will be going on the WEB site. 5) Announce the membership drive open through Jan. 19th. 6) Announce the Spring induction on April 21st. 7) Discuss mentoring as international focus; ask for input and profiles from members. 8) Announce open positions. B. J. will do the format and layout and hand off the hard copy to Mary Lou for folding and mailing. We will complete this at the Nov. meeting.

Membership

Applications will be distributed to students and the top third will be selected. The selection committee will consist of B. J., Sandra, and Wendy who will meet on Jan 25th to make the selections that will be presented at the February dinner meeting.

Open Positions

We need to actively seek people to fill the empty Board positions, especially the President Elect position. Please make personal contacts of people who might be able to fill the positions.

Next Meeting

Will be held November 28th at 18:30 at Sonoma State.

Respectfully submitted: Bobbi Lunceford, Recording Secretary
