Mentor Profiles

Sandra is a past president of the Lambda Gamma chapter and an emeritus member of the faculty at SSU. Her areas of interest focus on vulnerable populations within community health. She is involved in the sociopolitical dimensions of nursing practice, specializing in cultural competency in health care and health care planning at the local, state and national level. In January of 07 Sandra and Carole Heath a fellow instructor from SSU lead a group of nursing students in a language and cultural immersion class in Guadalajara, Mexico. Sandra served on several health care boards in Sonoma County (Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa, Saint Joseph's Health benefits regional board, Northern California Center for Well Being and the Redwood Coalition of Health Clinics). Serving on these Boards keeps Sandra apprised of the rapidly changing health care situation in our local community. Sandra now serves as a nursing education consultant to schools of nursing dealing with the nursing shortage. She is available for mentoring in any of these areas. You may contact her at debella@sonoma.edu
