Services offered...

NWIC staff regularly assist Historical Resources Consultants undertaking research in history and archaeology as well as providing information to landowners, scholars, and the general public about archaeology, history, architecture, and historical resources legislation.

Research and information is provided to more than 100 federal, state, or local government agencies, as well as over one thousand private historical resource consultants, environmental, planning, engineering, and development firms. Approximately 2000 requests for information are fulfilled each year.

Inventory access, products and services are provided on a fee-for-service basis.

Fees approved by State Historical Resources Commission as of November 9, 2007

Currently the NWIC is transitioning its Inventory from paper based maps and documents into Digital (Electronic) based maps and documents. At this time five (5) counties are maintained in digital file format accessed using ArcMap and Database programs. The remainder are maintained and accessed on paper. The fees below are categorized by these file formats.

FEES for INVENTORY maintained in PAPER FILE Format:

    INVENTORY ACCESS (in person visit):
    • Self-Conducted Record Search
      • $100 per person, per hour onsite
      • 15¢ per printed page copied

    NWIC PRODUCTS & SERVICES:
    • Record Search:
      • $150 per labor hour
      • 15¢ per printed page provided
    • Document Copy/Database Search Requests
      • $40 per labor hour
      • 15¢ per printed page provided
    • Rapid Response Request for Products & Services:
      • 50% Surcharge on total fees

FEES for INVENTORY maintained in DIGITAL (Electronic) FILE Format:

    ON-SCREEN and ELECTRONIC INVENTORY ACCESS (in person visit):
    • Self-Conducted Record Search
      • $100 per person, per hour onsite
      • USGS Quadrangles searched :
        • 1-4 = no charge
        • 5 or more ...please call office for more information
      • Maps produced depicting the locations and/or shapes of Reports and/or Resources are assessed charges based on shape count:
        • 1-4 = $25
        • 5-14 = $75
        • 15-34 =$150
