Conference on HIV and Public Policy in the Pacific: Robert McNamara, (Political Science) is organizing a conference on HIV and public policy in countries around the Pacific, with a focus on comparing different approaches and strategies, and integrating health care and public policy concerns. The conference will be held in the fall of 1997, and will be coordinated with a semester-long lecture series that examines these issues, and their relevance to the local Sonoma County community. Dr. McNamara comes to this project from years of fieldwork in Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Mexico, and has just initiated comparative research in Thailand and Vietnam.
