The purpose of our research agenda is to investigate sources of rural life sustainability in Northern California. The landscapes of rural areas and its historical heritage have dependen largely on agricultural activities, from farming to horseback riding. The green and historical character of Northern California have induced population and industrial growth. With this growth comes higher prices for agricultural land that make farming less profitable. The question then is what are those agricultural based activities that can survive as to sustain the pastoral nature of the region. This research agenda investigates the economic and policy conditions for maintaing the interest in horseback riding and farming. Carlos A. Benito |
