Biology 110 - An Introduction to Biology

Welcome to the the Study of Life!

Asterina miniata, the bat star, a member of the Phylum Echinodermata, is often observed along the California coast in rocky intertidal areas.	Blue Oaks, Quercus douglasii, grow in drier aresa of Sonoma County and other dry areas in the western U.S.
Lichens are associations between fungi and algae; they are sensitive to air pollution, so if you find the lichen diversity high, the air quality is good.	Beautiful Bush Lupine. Flowering plants are the most successful division of the Kingdom Plantae, with almost 250, 000 species, far more than any other group in the plant kingdom.

RULES FOR SUCCESS

Read assigned chapter(s) before you come to class.
Attend every class period.
Take charge of your own learning. Study for understanding of the concepts, not just memorization of "facts".
Be alert and take good notes. Go over your notes soon after class and make extra notes from your reading.
Consider studying with other students outside of class to discuss the material and prepare for exams.
Above all, determine to do your very best this semester!

Please Note:No late examinations or quizzes will be given without a written medical excuse or prior arrangements with the instructor.

Students who wish to be graded in a non-traditional mode (CR/NC, credit/ no credit) must file a " change of program" form indicating that grading choice at the Office of Admissions and Records. CR will be assigned for an earned grade of C- (70%) or better.
