This one-unit course is designed to assist students with academic major and career decision making. This class is ideal for someone who is an undeclared major or is undecided as to their career direction. The course will focus on self assessment and self examination, look at patterns of interests, examine important life values, and take stock of personal skills. Short and long term planning and overall decision making will be examined in the context of occupational research. Assignments will be designed so that you can approach the material doing either a major or career search. It is my hope that by the end of the class you will have a clearer idea of your career direction and be more aware of choices and resources available to you.

The course will emphasize three main areas:

1. Self Assessment: Interest inventory, values clarification, personality assessment, and skills identification.

2. Decision Making: Major, career, life planning and goal setting.

3. Career Research: Identify options in areas of preference, research and informational interview, and labor market information.
