What I Do at SSU

I have had the pleasure of teaching dance at Sonoma State since 2007. I teach contemporary dance technique classes, which include Dance Fundamentals, Contemporary Dance Technique Levels I, II, and III, and Intermediate and Advanced Dance Block. My style has a solid ballet foundation and is infused with many different modern dance techniques. I choreographed for the 2009 Spring Dance Ensemble and assisted Nancy Lyons with her 2010 Spring Dance Retrospective.

My Bio

Rebecca is a dancer, choreographer and teacher of Contemporary and Modern dance, ballet and Pilates. In 2007 she earned her MFA with an emphasis in Choreography and Performance from Mills College. She also holds a BA in Dance and Environmental Conservation and Restoration from Sonoma State University. Inspired by Surrealism, Ecology, Psychic Automatism, and many other experiences, Rebecca strives to create new works that exemplify her unique voice in the art of dance.

Currently, Rebecca is dancing professionally with Molissa Fenley and Dancers and Dandelion Dance Theatre. She has worked with Nancy Lyons, Anne Bluethenthal, Group A, and toured across the U.S. as a performer for DoubleVision Intermedia. August 2012 begins her sixth year of teaching at Sonoma State University where she teaches Contemporary Dance technique. In addition, Rebecca works in San Francisco as an Apprentice Pilates Instructor and is training towards becoming a fully certified STOTT PILATES® instructor.
