MONEY CONVERSION

Money during 1907 held a different value than it does today. Here is the simple money conversion for this production of Oklahoma! One dollar in 1907 would be roughly twenty-five dollars today. Notice this is a rough estimate due to fluctuations in the economic market and inflation. Another note is that whenever someone says two bits, he/she really means a quarter in 1907, which is $6.25 today.

  • Will’s $50 prize money is about $1,250 in today’s currency.
  • Ali Hakim’s offer to pay $8 for Will’s hot water bottle is about $200 in today’s money.
  • When Curly sells his gun for $18, that’s about $450 in today’s money.
  • When Jud lays down $42.31, which he says is two years’ wages, that’s about $1,050 in today’s money.
