How to ApplY

University Support & Preparation Services’ students are recruited during the fall and/or spring semester of each year. The Academic Talent Search (ATS) program identifies students in the 6th and 7th grades, while Upward Bound Sonoma County (UBSC), Upward Bound North (UBN), and Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) target 8th grade students. Students in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades may apply based on limited space availability.

The application process includes attending a recruitment orientation, completing a student application and recommendation forms, and a student-parent interview.  The completed application forms must be submitted along with parents' income verification.  Program application forms and brochures are available from SSU's University Support & Preparation Services.

Academic Talent Search
The application PRIORITY DEADLINE for ATS is February 1, 2008; the FINAL DEADLINE for ATS is Feb 15, 2008. Students and parents seeking more information should attend the an ATS Recruitment presentation.To apply to ATS, please download the 6th-7th grade application or 8th-12th grade application.

Upward Bound-Sonoma County
The application DEADLINE for UBSC is February 15, 2008. Students and parents seeking more information should attend the UBSC and UBMS Recruitment presentation on February 2, 2008 at SSU in Darwin Hall room 103. To apply to UBSC or UBMS, please download an application here.

Upward Bound-North
The application DEADLINE for UBN (only students attending Calistoga, Ukiah, Geyserville, or Cloverdale High Schools are eligible to apply to UBN) is Friday, December 14, 2007.  If you are having problems meeting the deadline, and/or need more information please call 707.664.3273.  To apply to UBN, please download an application here.
