Clearing the Air: Transportation
& Growth's Effect on Climate Change
November 15, 2003 -- 8:30AM - 4:30PM
Commons, SSU - Workshop IV
Walk, bike or run to this interactive symposium
and learn about public transit, personal transportation, smart growth
and local policy initiatives. Come and see first-hand vehicles fueled
by biofuel, alcohol, electricity, natural gas, hydrogen, and even
compressed air.
Vehicles burning fossil fuels are the single largest
contributor to the increase in CO2 levels
in the atmosphere. Given the tremendous environmental impacts, social
and financial costs associated with using fossil fuels and maintaining
our nation's access to the world's oil reserves, it becomes imperative
for us to explore all the alternatives. Come and see the latest
in alternative fueled vehicles; hear about transportation alternatives;
discuss solutions with elected officials, transportation planners,
and other concerned citizens; and receive information about the
upcoming 2004 Sonoma County Transportation Initiatives. This symposium
is coordinated by Jake MacKenzie, Vice Mayor, Rohnert Park City
Council.
