  1. Africa: One Continent. Many Worlds - This exhibit focuses on the historical, cultural, and artistic diversity of African peoples. Includes an hour of video, photo galleries, and stories. From the Los Angeles Natural History Museum.
  2. Afro-Diasporian Web Sites Directory - This directory leads to over 1100 alphabetically indexed web sites dealing with the African Diaspora.
  3. Africa Online - Contains lots of information about the modern countries of Africa.
  4. African Studies Web - Is the African Studies Center's server located at the University of Pennsylvania and features lots of information index by topic on Africa.
  5. African Studies Web: Country-Specific Page - Is part of the African Studies Web, but indexed by country rather than topic.
  6. Daily Life in Sierra Leone - This site is presented by the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. It makes available photographic images residing in the Museum Archives that were made in between 1936 and 1937 in the African Sherbro-speaking areas of Sierra Leone.
  7. K12 African Guide - A treasure chest full of resources exploring Africa and the African Diaspora for students and teachers.
  8. Maps Of Africa - A great database of African maps for geography and history teachers and students. (Be warned, the map files are large and may take a while to download.)
  9. Africa South of the Sahara - Contains general and regional indexes that cover a broad range of African topics, from art to weather. Maintained by the African Studies Association at Stanford University.
  10. Exchange - This site is an excellent resource for those interested in studying other cultures. Sections include: cookbook, world cultures (ceremonies, customs etc.), stories, penpals, and class projects that have been submitted.
  11. Art and Life in Africa Project - An ongoing project that aims to document the diverse cultures and artistic traditions of African peoples. It has both country and culture profiles.
  12. Africa Research Central - A nice site to get African Primary Sources using a database search engine.
  13. Welcome to the Living Africa - Features spotlight coverage of Africa including its peoples, languages, cities, land, wildlife, and national parks. Has some Find games and quizzes.
  14. United Nations Africa Recovery - News and reports from the United Nations on the causes of African conflicts, the efforts to find peaceful solutions, and the development of the African economy.
  15. Hotlist: Africa - A wonderful collection of resources about Africa and its history from Franklin Institute Online.
  16. Cora Connection: The Manding Music Traditions of West Africa - The history and evolution of West African music including sounds from instruments including the harp-lute and the Ngoni.
  17. World History Archives: History of Africa - Find retrospective histories, articles, and papers about Africa and the outside world.  It includes articles about governments, politics, and development.
  18. Africa Index - An Information database on African countries from the U.S. Department of State.
  19. Africana Library: Map of Africa - This is a clickable image map. A mouse click on a country will link you to fact page.
  20. African Links on the Internet - A large collection of links to African related materials. Part of the Kamusi Project at Yale University.
  21. Africa: South of the Sahara - Provides a Chronological list of the history of Africa south of the Sahara Desert.
  22. Records from Slave Ships - The University of Wisconsin provides a database on slaves brought from Africa between 1817-1843. Browse the original documentation and code books.
  23. Volcanoes in the African Region - Interesting information and pictures of the volcanoes located on the African continent.
  24. Afro-Caribbean Deities - Dictionary features entries detailing the Yoruban pantheon transplanted to Brazil via the slave trade. Includes notes on the differences.
  25. National Geographic: Okavango Delta - A cyber safari on the Okavanga delta with a National Geographic expedition. Includes photographs, field reports, and educational resources.
  26. Post Colonial Literature in Africa - An overview about the economics, history, politics, religion, and genre issues in African Post Colonial literature from Brown University.
  27. Maps of Africa and Ghana - Features a selection of maps detailing present and past boundaries, ancient empires, and more modern empires.
  28. Eldis Africa Guide - A nice quick search engine for profiles of African Countries.
  29. Ancient Africa on the Electronic Passport - Africa had many vibrant, exotic civilizations predating the Europeans conquest of the continent. Learn about the stories of the Griots, the grandeur of Ghana and Mali, and many other exciting stories in Mr. Dowling's Electronic Passport.
  30. African Human Rights Resource Center - Links and articles written about Human Rights issues in Africa.
  31. African Music Encyclopedia - This site contains lots of information about African Music, musical groups, and artists.
  32. Africa Project - A student designed Africa project by 7th graders in the Issaquah School District. It has information on Kenya, Samburu, Masai, and Swahili. A worthy project!
  33. World-Wide Web Resources: Africa - Part of a large web source guide from the University of Kentucky that draws from a database of 20,000 articles.
  34. Lepcis Magna - Window on the Roman World in North Africa - Exhibits the remains of a Roman city found in the Tripolitania region of Libya. Learn about the city's history and the archaeologists who work there.
  35. Deep In The Bush, Where People Rarely Ever Go - These tales, suitable for elementary and middle school, were collected by a Peace Corps volunteer in Liberia.
  36. Black History - Six Web sites on African-American History were created as models to suggest ways to integrate the World Wide Web and videoconferencing into classroom learning.
  37. Views from Africa - This website contains a collection of pictures without text of Africans and African animals. It is maintained by The Birmingham Zoo.
  38. University of Memphis - The Institute of Egyptian Art and Archeology furnishes descriptions and photographs of Abu Simbel, Aswan, Abydos, Dendera, Edfu, Cairo, and Giza, and other Egyptian archaeological sites.
