  1. Indian History Online - The Royal chronology of India: a generational timeline of Indian history. Currently under construction, but promises great things.
  2. The Epic Trilogy of India - Information about a trio of historical novels being written based on India's three great epics - The Dasharajnya Epic, Ramayana Epic, and the Mahabharata Epic. Interesting, but limited site.
  3. Dharmic Scriptures - This website, when complete, will contain the only complete listing of all major Dharmic ("Hindu") Scriptures and Literature in one location. You'll be able to download all the Sanathana Dharma Scriptures; 10,000 total.
  4. New Dharma Foundation - The Central Source for the New Dharmic Renaissance. This website concentrates on the rapidly emerging revival of Sanatana Dharma ("Hindu-ism") based upon a new study and realization of Dharmic Classical literature. The Links Page is an interesting portal.
  5. Hindu Youth Network - The Hindu Youth Network is Canada's largest and fastest growing Hindu youth group.
  6. Harappa - This site covers various aspects of Indian culture from prehistorical times to 1947 using images, sound files, and other multimedia. Be sure to check out the 90 slide tour of the Indus River Valley.
  7. Eastern Studies - gives you entrance to an award-winning web site for Asian and Mideastern studies. It makes a nice starting place for your research, but you are required to sign-in the first time you visit. Registration is free.
  8. Daily Life in Ancient India - is part of Mrs Donn's "Daily Life in Ancient Times" website. It provides some interesting facts about the daily life in Ancient India during the mysterious and "so cool" Indus Valley Civilization, the Vedic and Epics Periods, and the Age of Empires.
  9. Ancient India - is part of the "Development of Western Civilization" series by Creative Impulses.
  10. Exploring Ancient World Cultures - provides an excellent introduction to ancient cultures of the Indus River Valley and India.
  11. SARAI - stands for "South Asia Resource Access on the Internet" and has a wealth of links to information about India, Pakistan, and other South Asian countries.
  12. Temple of Gautama Buddha - is part of the Messengers of Light Web Site, sponsored by the Maitrega Sangha Yoga sect. Although not main stream, it does contain lots of interesting information.
  13. The Global Hindu Electronic Network - provides a neat search machine developed at Hindu University that gives you access to all sorts of historical materials as seen from a modern religious and Hindu nationalist viewpoint.
  14. Internet Ancient History Source book - An immense resource of Ancient History links and information from Paul Halsall at Fordham University.
  15. Exchange - This site is an excellent resource for those interested in studying other cultures. Sections include: cookbook, world cultures (ceremonies, customs etc.), stories, penpals, and class projects that have been submitted.
  16. AskAsia - This site has comprehensive information, resources, and teaching materials about Asia and Asian-Americans.
  17. Ancient World Web - provides a search engine that is a gateway to information about the ancient civilizations, people, and cultures of Asia.
  18. Indian Art History Resources on the Web - is part of the larger Art History Resources Site and is the gateway to the art masterpieces of the ages. This fantastic collection of links is divided into time periods.
  19. Indus River Valley Art History Resources on the Web - is the link that takes you to Art of the Indus River Valley on Art History Resources Site. (see above)
  20. Itihaas - This site covers 50 years of Independence, but 5,000 years of history. Sections include Ancient India, Medieval India, Modern India, and Independent India
  21. The History of India Site - allows you to "experience the richness of Indian culture, the glory of the past, and the turbulence and triumphs." Uses Shockwave Flash video, but has a text only version.
  22. Information on India - covers the different geological parts of India, different cultures, languages, manners as well as the different historical backgrounds and influences. Topics include the caste system, widow-burning, and Indian Jewish communities.
  23. India - Indian part of National Geographic's Geographia site.
  24. The History of the Sikh - Here you can find biographies of Sikh Gurus, Great Sikh Warriors, Sikh personalities, and information about Sikh Institutes and Gurdwaras.
  25. The Prince of Wales Museum of Western India - Exhibits span the history and culture of India, from pre-proto history artifacts to decorative arts and Indian miniature painting.
  26. The Timeline of India - A basic chronology Chart of India, according to standard academic dating.
  27. A Chronology of Indian History - Very detailed text chronology, includes comparative non-Indian dates. Uses scriptural dates in some instances and so does not agree with standard academic dates.
  28. Political and Social Ethics of India - Features data on the Magadha and Maurya empires and Alexander's conquests in the North.
  29. Ancient and Medieval Coins of India - A surprisingly interesting site where Indian history is discussed using the coins of India dating back 2600 years.
  30. The Arts of India - Five works of art from India from the Getty Education Institute for the Arts.
  31. India and Asian Studies - part of the Virtual Library, this resource guide provides access to a hundreds of articles related to the history of India. Includes many biographies of Mahatma Gandhi.
  32. The StudyWeb - provides lots of information about India as part of the larger StudyWeb site.
  33. India and South Asia Resources - A collection of India and South Asia Resources, and lots of links to major resources on the Web for India from the Chico High School Library.
  34. The History of India - A Living portrait of India Home, Culture, Creative Arts, Travel, Religion, History, Performing Arts, Cuisine, Science, and India Heritage. Topics include Ancient, Medieval and Modern India.
  35. India Revealed - This virtual gallery of Indian sculpture includes some lovely images of ancient sculpture.
  36. Legacy India - This site includes images of and notes about several ancient sites among the array of India's historical sites including forts, palaces, mosques, temples, stupas, and monasteries.

  38. Image India - a great site for a pictorial glimpse of India's ancient heritage and scenic beauty.

  40. Tracking the Tiger Trade - Travel undercover in India to capture tiger poachers, then follow the tiger parts to their destination. One of five cyberadventure provided by the "Five Tigers" website.
  41. Asia Source - Information about all aspects of Asian culture, from Asian current affairs to pronunciation guides for Asian languages.
  42. Conversations with History - Interviews with a broad range of historical figures from the latter half of the twentieth century from the Institute of International Studies at UC Berkeley. Search for "India" to find subject related interviews.
  43. Destination Himalayas - Where the Earth Meets the Sky - This is a wonderful site, created by three students from India, Nepal and the U.S., that has over 500 photos of the Himalayas and an in-depth look into the geography and history of this mountain region.
  44. A Force More Powerful - This web site tells the story of the Salt March defying British colonial rule in India. Using interviews, maps, a timeline, and readings from the works of Gandhi, students will be able to understand the powerful force of non-violent protest and how the Indians made it work.
  45. India and Pakistan - 50 Years - This CNN web site illuminates the historical background for the India-Pakistan rivalry that exists today. Digitized video, a slide show, and an interactive timeline help the student to understand the legacy of the British Raj and partition.
  46. Art Treasures of India - View pictures of India's most famous statues and temples from ancient to modern times.
  47. Stories from India - In this "Kids Corner" section of the INDOlink site, there are stories from Indian mythology, Jataka tales, and other literature about festivals and famous people.
  48. India Turns 50 - The New York Times on looks back at the events of 1947 and the road to India's independence, as reported in the pages of The Times.
  49. India: The Dilemmas of Diversity - This article by Professor Hardgrave of Temple University reviews the history of India with respect to its diverse people, religions and nationalities.
  50. Internet Indian History Sourcebook - The Internet History Sourcebooks are collections of public domain and copy-permitted historical texts presented cleanly (without advertising or excessive layout) for educational use.
