Special Bulletin
Subject: Emergency Initiatives / Phone No. Change / Active Shooter Safety Training
Date: April 27, 2009
I am pleased to announce that Police Services has implemented several new programs related to emergency communications and contact information.
- For your convenience, Police and Parking Services has a new phone number. The new number is 707-664-4444. The older number will still work, but hopefully the new number will make it easier to remember should you need to recall it in an emergency or call from you mobile phone.
- We have completed the GIS mapping of campus for our 911 program. Police Services now captures most of the 911 calls made from mobile phones placed on the campus. We still encourage you to program 707 664-4444 in your contacts list to ensure that the call will reach us directly.
- Emergency Services has just completed the installation and mock testing of our new Mass Notification System. This system will be reserved only for major emergency situations that may affect your immediate safety. Soon you will receive marketing materials and a test will be run using the phone numbers and emails you have listed in PeopleSoft. You need to do nothing more, but keep your information in your PeopleSoft account updated.
- Through special arrangements, a training video on how to personally protect yourself in an active shooter situation is
and available for viewing from an on-campus source. The video is approximately 15 minutes and contains tips that could possibly save your life. Additionally, we still provide in-person trainings to our community throughout the year and will come to individual departments and areas upon request.
There are more wonderful things happening in Police and Parking Services, which we will include in our COPPS newsletter and as they near completion. My thanks to Ms. Jean Sugiyama and the IT staff, Mr. Jason Wenrich in CMS, Ms. Susan Kashack in University Affairs, Tyson Hill and Greg Lim in Police Services, Contracts and Procurement, and the State 911 board for their leadership and support of these projects. Questions regarding the above initiatives can be directed to Mr. Tyson Hill, director of Emergency Services at or x4-4039. Thank you.
