Parking Permits

Under state law all parking on a University campus is subject to payment of a specified fee. This applies to all Staff, Faculty, Students, and Visitors. Visitors who are parked in posted time zones or who display valid visitor parking permits are excluded.

The University reserves the right to charge a fee for parking during special events on weekends and holidays.

Parking Fees

Under state law, all parking on a California State University campus is subject to payment of a specified fee. This applies to all employees, students, and visitors, except those visitors who are parked in posted time zones or who display valid visitor permits.

Students with California disabled placards who are receiving financial aid may be eligible for parking fee waivers. Please contact Financial Aid for eligibility information.

Different fees may apply to certain represented employees. Please contact Customer Services for additional information.

Three different types of parking permits are available. Please refer to the Non-Reserved Parking Map, Reserved Parking Map or the Residence Hall Parking Map to see where each decal is valid.

Parking Decals

Parking decals may be purchased at Customer Services in Salazar Hall.

Persons who park on campus on a regular basis are strongly encouraged to purchase parking decals. Permanent parking decals may be purchased by full-time faculty and staff who participate in the payroll deduction plan. These decals are valid for as long as the individual is on payroll deduction.

Decals must be displayed in clear view inside the windshield on lower driver’s side or hanging from the inside rear view mirror. Display hangers may be purchased in the Bookstore.

Other valid CSU parking decals are honored on the SSU campus in non-reserved parking lots.

Semester decals may be returned to Customer Services for credit before the expiration date. Credits are provided in full-month increments only. See Customer Services for details and credit amounts.

Fraudulent use or production of parking permits is strictly enforced with minimum fines of $275.00. In addition to fines, incidents of fraudulent parking permits will be forwarded to law enforcement for administrative and/or criminal investigation.

Short-Term Parking Permits

Short-term parking permits are available for purchase at permit meters located in most parking lots or at either of the Parking Information Centers. Please refer to the campus map for exact locations.

Short-term parking is available without a permit only in marked timed zones. Timed zones are located in many parking lots for 15, 20, 30 or 45 minutes. Timed zones are strictly enforced.

Short-term parking permits are $2.50 per day for non-reserved and $5.00 for reserved parking. Multiple day permits are available for consecutive days at the daily rate. Multiple day permits and reserved permits are available only at the Parking Information Centers. Short-term reserved passes are subject to availability at the discretion of Parking Services.

Students, faculty or staff who attend the University on a regular basis are strongly encouraged to purchase a parking decal. Persons who come to campus three times a week for a 16 week semester will spend $120.00 on daily permit fees. Additionally, parking decals save you time with parking meters!

If the machine does not operate properly, it is the responsibility of the purchaser to immediately contact Police & Parking Services at (707) 664-2143. The purchaser must obtain a permit at another operable permit machine or at either of the Parking Information Centers.

Temporary Disability Parking

Qualifying students, faculty, or staff with temporary or on-going disabilities who do not possess a DMV Disabled Placard may apply to receive a Temporary Disabled Parking Permit. This permit allows vehicles to park in disabled zones on campus for up to 30 days. Vehicles must also display a valid SSU parking permit.

Temporary disabled parking permits may be obtained by filling out a Temporary Disability Parking Application (doc) and information regarding the acquisition and proper use of the permit are available in the 30-Day Temporary Parking Guidelines (pdf). Medical certification may be required. Applications should be returned to Disability Services for Students. Please contact Disability Services for Students at (707) 664-2677 for additional information about this program.

The permits may not be renewed. Individuals who require longer accommodation must contact the California DMV to apply for a disabled placard.

Parking Information Centers

Parking Information Centers are located at both the north and south entrances of campus. The centers offer transit information, campus maps and parking information. Daily and weekly parking passes are also available for sale.
