FOR SONOMA STATE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT:

Applications are available the first month of each semester in the Psychology Department office, Stevenson 3092. Spring 2014 applications will be available January 13. Deadline to apply February 13, 2014.

Current Sonoma State students who wish to apply to transfer into the psychology major must have completed the following courses or the equivalents:

ENGL 101 Expository Writing and Analytical Reading (GE A2)
PHIL 101 Critical Thinking or PHIL 102, Introduction to Logic (GE A3)
PSY 250 Introduction to Psychology (GE D1)

with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. English 101 and Psychology 250 must be completed with a grade of B or higher.

Recommended for entrance into the major:

MATH 165 Statistics (GE B4)

Once these requirements are met, fill out an application to declare Psychology as your major. Your application will be reviewed by a faculty committee and the Department Chair.

FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT AND MAJORING IN PSYCHOLOGY:

You must have a 3.0 GPA (effective Fall 09) to enter into the Psychology Department as a Psychology major. Indicate on your Sonoma State application form that you would like Psychology as your major.

FOR COMMUNITY COLLEGE OR OTHER COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY TRANSFER STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT AND MAJORING IN PSYCHOLOGY:

You must have a 3.0 GPA (effective Fall 09) to enter into the Psychology Department as a Psychology major, and must have completed an Introduction to Psychology course with a grade of B or better. Indicate on your Sonoma State application form that you would like Psychology as your major.

You are advised to take the following GE courses or their equivalents as incoming requirements:

ENGL 101 Expository Writing and Analytical Reading (GE A2)
PHIL 101 Critical Thinking or PHIL 102, Introduction to Logic (GE A3)
MATH 165 Statistics (GE B4)

All courses counting toward the major must be passed with a grade of C or better, and must be taken for a grade when there is an option.
