PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENTAPPLICATION TO THE MAJORFOR SONOMA STATE
STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT: Current Sonoma State students who wish to apply to transfer into the psychology major must have completed the following courses or the equivalents: ENGL 101 Expository Writing and Analytical Reading (GE
A2) with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. English 101 and Psychology 250 must be completed with a grade of B or higher. Recommended for entrance into the major: MATH 165 Statistics (GE B4) Once these requirements are met, fill out an application to declare Psychology as your major. Your application will be reviewed by a faculty committee and the Department Chair. FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT AND MAJORING IN PSYCHOLOGY: You must have a 3.0 GPA (effective Fall 09) to enter into the Psychology Department as a Psychology major. Indicate on your Sonoma State application form that you would like Psychology as your major. FOR COMMUNITY COLLEGE OR OTHER COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY TRANSFER STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT AND MAJORING IN PSYCHOLOGY: You must have a 3.0 GPA (effective Fall 09) to enter into the Psychology Department as a Psychology major, and must have completed an Introduction to Psychology course with a grade of B or better. Indicate on your Sonoma State application form that you would like Psychology as your major.
