Early Childhood Education Minor

The Education department offers a 24 unit minor in Early Childhood Education (ECE) that provides the prerequisite courses for the Elementary Education Teaching Credential, the Multiple Subjects Credential, and the Child Development Permit. It can be combined with the psychology major for students interested in careers involving young children from birth to 8 years.

The minor contains 15 units of core upper-division Education courses and 9 units of electives from a selected listing of courses. Not all of the core courses are taught every year, so it usually takes 2 years to complete the minor, which makes advance planning essential.
