Internship Description

Job Title: Volunteer/Intern

Compensation: unpaid
Amount/Type: personal development, the freedom to facilitate already existing program topics and creation of own ideas.
Internship Length: 1 semester
Hours Per Week: 1-5

Population: Adolescents
Focus: Domestic Violence, Education, Human Resource Management, Mental Health, Outreach, Research
Setting: Community Agency and School

Duties: Circle of Sisters is located at many different school sites throughout Sonoma County. We also offer administrative assistant positions in our Rohnert Park office. Site volunteers/interns are responsible for assisting program facilitators in preparation(s) for group. They will mentor adolescent girls, assist in curriculum implementation, and be available as chaperon support for field trips. Office volunteers/interns are responsible for assisting with program evaluations, working closely with community members to elicit support/create awareness about the program, and will assist in event coordination.

Qualifications: Culturally sensitive, willingness to participate in activities with adolescent girls, positive role models.

Additional Information:
Due to district requirements, it is important to apply for this internship as soon as possible. Fingerprinting and background checks are required because of the nature of this internship. This process may take up to 4 weeks, so the sooner an application is processed the sooner one can complete the hours.

Program sites run between the hours of 3-6 pm. Time of program operation is site dependent. Groups are 2.5 hours long. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive at their assigned sites one half-hour early. Site openings are available in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Guerneville, and Windsor. Time commitment for office volunteers/interns is dependent upon event status, office needs, and student schedule.
