Internship Description

Job Title: Cross-Country Skiing Intern

Compensation: paid
Amount/Type: Room and board plus a stipend of $400/month. Skiing privileges, including use of equipment and Bear Valley Nordic pass. Also Nordic ski and disability awareness training.
Internship Length: Winter/Spring
Hours Per Week: To be determined

Population: Adolescents, Adults, Families
Focus: Autism, Developmental Disabilities, Homeless, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Physical Disabilities
Setting: Winter Cabin, Bear Valley CA

Duties: Lead cross-country ski trips for people with special needs in Northern California's Sierra Mountains, lead and facilitate a wide variety of winter activities, plan and manage trip logistics, site and equipment maintenance, work and live in a team environment, interact with diverse populations, and generally create and share an incredible winter experience.

Qualifications: Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to creatively problem solve and work effectively as a team. Ability to take initiative, be flexible, and work independently. Wilderness and environmental education experience and experience working with youth and people with special needs preferred.

Additional Information: The season is January-April and applications are typically due by October. Please call if you are interested.
