Internship Description

Job Title: MFT Intern/Trainee

Compensation: unpaid
Amount/Type: Trainee: free training & certificat; MFT Intern: free training & certificate
Internship Length: 1 year
Hours Per Week: 15+ (20-22 P/T; 40 F/T)

Population: Seniors, Couples, Families
Focus: Issues of Aging, Crisis Intervention, Grief, Dying, Research, Expressive Arts Therapy, Existential-Humanistic Approach. Some Substance Abuse and other Mental Health challenges.
Setting: Residential Treatment

Duties: Counseling for individuals and couples, workshop and group facilitation, as well as learning about assessment, diagnosis, paperwork, researching for resources for the elder residents.

Qualifications: M.A. student or Graduate.

Additional Information: Program is based on the existential-humanistic model of psychotherapy. Psychotherapeutic and assessment activities with a caseload drawn from the Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly with which Pacific Institute contracts, and/or clients served at the Institute's mental health clinic. Individual and group supervision provided. Training seminars (during regular work hours) on theory and technique. Demonstrations and clinical case conferences.
