Internship Description

Job Title: Visitation Program Intern

Compensation: unpaid
Amount/Type: Certificate of completion & Letter of Recommendation
Internship Length: 2 semesters
Hours Per Week: 1-5

Population: Adults, Seniors, Multicultural
Focus: Crisis Intervention, Developmental Disabilities, Domestic Violence, Education, Homeless, Mental Health, Outreach, Research, Substance Abuse
Setting: Community Agency, Family Home

Duties: Assist clients in our Supervised Visitation program. Conduct intake interviews & assess what resources families need. Work with families to take advantage of resources outside our program. Conduct follow-up to ensure clients find help.

Qualifications: Some legal knowledge helpful; we also train. Ability to assist clients in stress. Ability to research services to find the best fit for client. Good ability to communicate information to both clients and service providers.

Additional Information: This program operates under the jurisdiction of the Courts and Child Protective Services. We have 15 Supervisors working with about 50-60 families. Parents who cannot have unsupervised contact with their children are our clients. We operate in the best interests of children. Many parents have issues related to their relationship, to parents, or other socioeconomic needs. We would like to provide more assistance to families to enhance their parenting and other lifeskills.
