WASC CPR Team Plans Campus Visits March 12-14

The WASC Capacity and Preparatory Review (CPR) team visit will be Wednesday, March 12 through Friday, March 14. A team of six reviewers will be on campus to meet with members of the campus community. An itinerary for the visit is currently being prepared and will include meetings with members of various campus committees and groups, as well as individual faculty, staff and students. The team arrives on campus late in the afternoon on Wednesday, spends the entire day on campus on Thursday, and then returns to campus midday on Friday for an exit meeting. Please mark your calendars for this important visit, which is the first of a two-phase accreditation process. The Educational Effectiveness visit is scheduled for October 7-9, 2009.

The visiting team will be headed by Paul L. Gaston, Provost and Professor, Kent State University. The assistant team chair and team editor is Nalsey B. Tinberg, Professor of Mathematics, Occidental College. The team members include Desdemona Cardoza, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, CSU Los Angeles; Cecile Lindsay, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate Studies, CSU Long Beach; Lena T. Rodriguez, Executive Director of Special Projects and Communications for the President, San Diego State University; and Terry M. Wildman, Director of the Center for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

On the Web site is information about the accreditation process, including the reaccreditation review with links to documents which support SSU's compliance with the WASC standards.

Members of the campus community may be invited to meet with one or more of the WASC team as a member of a University committee or group. All interested faculty, staff, and students will also be invited to open meeting times, which will be scheduled on Thursday, March 13.
