Learn more about the advantages of participating in the available flexible spending accounts, which are designed to help employees pay fewer taxes!

This year, the open enrollment period is September 17, 2007 through Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Enrollment and changes become effective January 1, 2008. Use this period to:

  1. enroll and/or cancel enrollment in health, dental or flex cash change plans
  2. add eligible family members to your health, dental and vision plans

A representative of the CalPERS Long Term Care Program will be available to assist with plan choices and financial planning to protect assets and lifestyles against the catastrophic costs of long-term care.

Annual health plan statements were sent to all members in August.  Open enrollment materials may be ordered by using the pre-paid postcard sent to your home from CalPERS or online at www.calpers.ca.gov or by contacting the CalPERS customer contact center at (888) 225-7377.

Global and International Scholarship Honor Society Seeks Nominations

Phi Beta Delta’s Zeta Tau chapter at Sonoma State University is conducting its annual call for nominations to membership. Phi Beta Delta is an honor society which strives to promote and honor high academic achievement in international education. If you or someone you know meets the following criteria, please submit an application.

How do we know who is eligible? Criteria vary according to the following categories; all of the following are eligible for nomination:

Is the application process difficult? A brief narrative and basic personal data are all that is necessary:

The application should summarize the nominee’s activities related to international education in a narrative of 200 words. It should include the nominee’s name, major or department, and contact information including e-mail, phone and mailing address. Successful applicants should expect to attend the induction ceremony on November 15, 2007 at 3 p.m. Please submit the application to Membership Chair berta.hodges@sonoma.edu by 12:00 noon, October 5, 2007.
