International Political Cartoonist Unveils His "Wicked Cartoons"
World-renowned
political cartoonist Khalil Bendib visits the campus at 7 p.m. on Thursday,
Sept. 20, in the Student Union Multi-Purpose Room to discuss his adventures
in the mediaworld both in the U.S. and abroad. Once called the “minesweeper
of political cartooning in America,” Bendib will present samples
of his work and also introduce his latest book "Mission Accomplished:
Wicked Cartoons by America’s Most Wanted Political Cartoonist."Admission

A Journey to the East: An Introduction to Hinduism and Buddhism through Indian Music
In the first of the Associated Students Productions Religion and Spirituality Lecture Series, Arjun Verma’s presentation couples an introduction to Hinduism and Buddhism with an exploration of the parallels between these religions and Indian Music at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the Student Union's Erin Fisher room. There is no charge.
This presentation features a live North Indian music demonstration played on the sitar. Verma has been studying the sitar and North Indian music for 17 years, initially under the guidance of his father, Roop Verma, and now with world-renowned Ustad Ali Akbar Khan at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael. The series' purpose is to introduce students and the community to some important issues, concerns and themes in religion and spirituality in an engaging environment to foster understanding.
