Final Faculty Training Sessions for PeopleSoft
Two final training sessions for PeopleSoft for faculty have been set, reports Margo Axsom, Systems Analyst, Common Management Systems. They are 10-11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 18 and 3-4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21 in the CMS Training Lab in Schulz 2007.
No sign-up is required for these two sessions. There are only 16 computers in the lab, but faculty can share if more than 16 attend. Food and drink are permitted in this lab, so faculty may bring coffee and snacks with them if they wish.
As a replacement for in-person training, the SA CMS Team is creating a series of short Flash movies to illustrate to faculty how to log in, navigate, and enter grades in PeopleSoft. These movies will be available on the CMS website.
Contact interim CMS Project Director Jason Wenrick for further information.
All About Wikis and Wikiality, Sept. 21
The Teaching and Technology Series continues with "Wikis and Wikiality" from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21 in Schulz 3001. Wikis permit asynchronous communication and group collaboration across the Internet. Variously described as a composition system, a discussion medium, a repository, a mail system, and a tool for collaboration, wikis provide users with both author and editor privileges; the overall organization of contributions can be edited as well as the content itself. Wikis are able to incorporate sounds, movies, and pictures; they may prove to be a simple tool to create multimedia presentations and simple digital stories (Educause, 2006).
Learn the inside story on wikis, as well as how easy it is for faculty and students to develop a project, topic, or class wiki. Presenters are Erin Bower (Library), Barbara Moore (IT), and Brett Christie (Education).
No RSVPs required. Phone Brett Christie at 4-2873 for further information. See the website for a full workshop calendar for the semester.
Introduction to Photoshop Elements

This workshop covers the basics of Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 as a tool for editing images and making images that are ready for the web or print. For information about and to sign up for the two-hour training, visit the website.
