Early History of Lake Sonoma Now on Web
Before Warm Springs Dam: A History Of the Lake Sonoma Area is now posted on the Anthropological Studies Center Web site.
This extensively illustrated, 200+ page public outreach document was written by ASC for the Corps of Engineers in 1985. However, the Corps did not publish it due to a lack of funds. To get this information out to the public for whom it was created, ASC converted the document (with the Corps' permission) into PDFs that can be accessed on the Internet. "I encourage everyone to visit the Lake Sonoma homepage so that visitors may learn about the history and Native peoples of this area," says Adrian Praetzellis, Director, Anthropological Studies Center.

Undergraduate Research Grants Available
As a part of its allocation of Instructionally Related Activity Fees, the Fee Advisory Committee has funded the Undergraduate Research Grant Program for the 2006-2007 academic year. These research grants are designed to aid undergraduates with expenses they may incur in their research projects, such as supplies, equipment, or travel to present their research at professional or scholarly meetings. The maximum award is $500 per grant. To qualify, a research project must be supported by a faculty sponsor and must be directly related to a class in which the student is enrolled.
Faculty members are encouraged to make this information available to students who are engaged in or considering independent research projects. Guidelines and application forms are available in the Academic Programs office, Stevenson 1041, and on the Web. The priority deadline for applications is October 20, 2006. For further information contact David Hartranft at 664-2237.
