Open Forum on Accessibility

An open forum on the Accessible Technology Initiative is scheduled on Sept. 25 from 1-2 p.m. in Schulz 3001. The event features presentations from several faculty and staff engaged in efforts related to accessibility. Primary topics covered are web accessibility and instructional materials accessibility. In addition to information sharing, emphasis will be placed on opportunities to answer questions or discuss issues attendees may have related to the Accessible Technology Initiative and what it means to the campus.

Funding for Transforming Course Design Project

Sonoma State University has received funding from the CSU to implement a transforming course design project. This funding will enable training, collaboration, and support of six to eight faculty to engage in a Faculty Learning Community on transforming course design. Each faculty member receives a $1,000 stipend, as well as full travel support, to participate in the CSU Symposium on Teaching and Learning. Green Music Center Recital Hall
Named After Peanuts' Schroeder

Jean Schulz, wife of the late Peanuts cartoon creator Charles Schulz, has made a $5 million donation toward the completion of the Green Music Center, resulting in the naming of the recital hall, "Schroeder's Recital Hall."

Jean is an alumna of Sonoma State University, graduating in 1965 with a B.A. in English. She and her late husband Charles "Sparky" Schulz have been long-time supporters of Sonoma State University and provided a permanent endowment for the operation of what became the Jean and Charles Schulz Information Center.

Orville SchellBest known as one of the country's most well-informed and thoughtful observers on China, Orville Schell discusses the country's changing destiny at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24 at the Cooperage. The lecture is free. Schell says that China is a nation of infinite promise, but also great uncertainty. In a state of non-stop transition, this most dynamic of nations has evolved away from its old revolutionary Maoism, but as yet has no clear destination. This means that it confronts decisions and contradictions at every turn. MORE
