Free Entertainment in October

The following are free events, shows and concerts
on campus during the month of October.

Rennie Harris

Hip Hop innovator Rennie Harris, above, presents a special workshop and master class on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Dance Studio Theatre, PE 1. Harris' PureMovement encompasses rich and diverse African-American  traditions of the past, while simultaneously presenting the voice of  a new generation. Call 4-2235 for reservations for the free workshop.

The Euro-Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mel Graves, performs an evening of post-bebop jazz standards and original work .on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Warren Auditorium.

The annual Performing Arts Scholarship Awards and Talent Showcase will be held in the Ives Concert Hall on Friday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.

Director Bob Afifi leads the Latin Jazz Ensemble on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in in Warren Auditorium in Ives Hall with a program of Latin Romance. The concert features the best of Latin jazz compositions from Cuba, South America, The United States and Europe.

Composer and jazz bassist Mel Graves offers open rehearsals of his new work, From The Past-In The New on Thursday, Oct. 25 and Friday, Oct. 26 from 2-5 p.m., Warren Auditorium. The piece was written for ten musicians as part of the Crossing the Border Series commemorating September 11, 2001.
