Interviews with Gerald Haslam, English emeritus, and Greg Sarris, English, are featured in booklets just published by the Sonoma County Book Festival. Both authors are part of "In Conversation With" series by Jonah Raskin, chair of the Communication Studies Department. Haslam, who taught in the English Department, talks about the Great Central Valley and his coming of age as a California writer. Sarris, the Graton Rancheria Endowed Chair and professor of Native American Studies, discusses his evolution as a writer and growing up in Santa Rosa.
Rocky Rohwedder, Environmental Studies and Planning, will teach aboard ship with the University of Virginia Semester-at-Sea program during spring 2007. This round-the-world voyage will host 650 university students, stopping at 12 ports in 100 days. The semester features Archbishop Desmond Tutu as a resident scholar for the entire voyage.
