Middle East Subject of Lecture Series This Week
The year-long lecture series — "Citizens of the World: On Common Ground?" — continues this week at noon on Oct. 19 in Schulz 3001 with discussions about the Middle East with Anne Goldman, English Dept., on "Politics of Home: Memoirs of a Middle Eastern Childhood" and Rocky Rohwedder, Environmental Studies and Planning Dept., discussing "Water and Peace: Teaching the Youth of the Middle East." Measuring on the Molecular Scale is Subject of Oct. 19 Lecture
Dr. Jim Hollenhorst, Vice President and Director of the Molecular Technology Lab at Agilent Technologies Labs, presents a lecture called "Molecular Scale Measurements" from 4-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19 in Salazar 2009A. Hollenhorst describes the work on new measurement techniques enabled by applying the techniques of electronics technology to the field of life sciences, or by novel ways of building and measuring molecular scale structures.
This is the second lecture in a series offered by the Department of Engineering Science and is designed to benefit the students and faculty in the School of Science and Technology, high tech and biotech industries and related businesses and community in the North Bay Region. The lecture series covers a broad range of topics with a focus on recent developments and trends and provides a platform for interaction and exchange of ideas among the audience. The campus community is invited.
