Scare Up Some Fun at Annual Halloween Contest and Party

Halloween is just around the corner, and it's time to get ready for SSU's annual Halloween Party and Costume Contest set for noon Tuesday, Oct. 31, in the Commons. Attendees are strongly encouraged to come in costume to help celebrate the spirit of the day and join in the traditional Parade of Costumes and costume judging on the Commons stage. Skits are also welcome, but will be held to a strict time limit of three minutes in order to give  everyone who wishes to participate the chance to compete. Categories for the costume contest include Scariest, Funniest, Best Couple/Group, Most Original, and Best Overall. Questions regarding this year's Halloween celebration may be directed to Tracy Goodman, Customer Services Representative, at 4-4248, or in-person in Salazar 1000.

Fridays at Four has Oktoberfest Theme Today

University Dining Services presents the Fridays at Four Oktoberfest today from 4-6 p.m., featuring authentic German delights and beverages from Lagunitas Brewing Company. Menu selections will include: Spicy Hash, Assorted Sausages, Salmon Gravlox and much more.  As always, the food is free and a cash bar is available.

 


"Hello Dolly" Leaves Us Richer...In So Many Ways

Broadway legend Carol Channing came to SSU for a few days last week on her tour of CSU campuses to generate support for the performing and visual arts. She left a $10,000 endowment for scholarships for SSU students in her wake. Channing entertained at a special event at the Spreckels Theater giving special attention to theatre arts students who payed rapt attention to her advice about life on the stage.

Wigs and Pre-1910 Fashions

wigRacks of frilly dresses, exotic hats, stylish suits and sassy shoes and many, many wigs will be for sale at Sonoma State University's Center for Performing  Arts Costume Shop annual sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 26, 27 and 28 in the Evert B. Person Theatre.

Hundreds of pieces to make a party outfit or expressive Halloween costume is being offered to the campus community. All proceeds from the sale help pay the costume warehouse rental lease. The costume collection is currently in three locations and the long term plan is to house the collection on campus in one space and provide room for classroom demonstrations and exhibits. Cash is preferred but checks will be accepted with proper identification. For further information, phone 4-2791.
