Writers: SSUProWriMo 2006 is Here
Don't Get it Right; Just Get it Written

Have you got a major writing project you've been trying to get to but can't seem to put on top of the "to do" list?

Join other writers on campus who, in the spirit of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), are trying to crank out 25,000 words in the month of November. Novel writers, academic project writers, poets, dramatists, memoirists-all are invited to participate.

Sign up in the SSU Writing Center in Schulz 1103  and an attend inspirational kickoff party from noon-1 p.m. Nov. 1 in Schulz 1121. For more information, come to the SSU Writing Center or e-mail Scott Miller or Michelle Jolly.

Still have questions? Here are some answers:

What is it?
A whole month devoted to producing 25,000 words and/or completing the project of your choice. The goal is quantity, not quality. Don't worry about grammar, spelling, research, logic, or formal footnotes. The motto is:  Don't get it right; get it written!

When does it start?
Start writing at midnight on Nov. 1; then just keep writing until midnight on Nov. 30

How do I get signed up?
Sign up in the Writing Center at 1103 Schulz, at the Kick-off party Nov. 1, or in an e-mail to Scott Miller or Michelle Jolly. Deadline to sign up is Nov. 24.

What happens if I reach the goal of 25,000 words?
You get a nifty certificate, you'll have a project to revise, continue, or trash as you see fit, and you get to call yourself a "Writer"

What happens if I don't finish my project?
You don't get the nifty certificate, but you'll still have a project, and you still get to call yourself a "Writer"

So what do I do now?
Come to the Kick-off party Nov. 1, at noon in Schulz 1121 to get more information.
