Matt James (Geology) traveled to Santa Barbara City College in September to expand the articulation agreement for junior geology transfers between SBCC and SSU, and to give their fall semester kick-off event public lecture on "Collecting Evolution — The Unintended Vindication of Charles Darwin by the 1905-06 Galapagos Expedition of the California Academy of Sciences."

The spring 2007 issue of the Visual Resources Association Bulletin, the international professional organization's quarterly journal, includes an article by Karen Kessel, visual resources curator for the Art and Art History Department. The issue is devoted to the recent publication of new standards for cataloging works of art, entitled Cataloging Cultural Objects, to facilitate sharing of images and their descriptions among image collections. Ms. Kessel was invited to write about concerns in applying the new standards to Native American art.
