Contemporary Drawing is Focus of
New Gallery Show
The University Art Gallery at Sonoma State University presents the exhibition “On Line: Contemporary Drawing,” which opens with a public reception from 4-6-p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2 and remains on view through Sunday, Dec. 10.
“On Line: Contemporary Drawing” looks at a variety of artists from throughout the United States who have made drawing a primary means of expression. The exhibition grew out a visit by University Art Gallery Director Michael Schwager to the international art fair “Art Basel: Miami Beach” in November 2005.
Most of the artists in "On Line" are just beginning to build solid reputations in the art world and may be unfamiliar to Bay Area audiences, says Schwager. Among the artists included in the exhibition are Joe Biel, Jason Botkin, Astrid Bowlby, dearraindrop, Marcel Dzama, Jacob El Hanani, Erica Eyres, Dan Fischer, Marilyn Holsing, Mary Judge, Jeff Ladouceur, Susan Logoreci, Rob Matthews, Sean Mellyn, Gerben Mulder, Paul Nudd, Robyn O’Neil, Brad Phillips, and Mark Sheinkman.
