Newly Funded McNair Scholars Project at SSU

A newly funded federal McNair Scholars Project is being offered to undergraduate students who plan to attend graduate school in the near future. An informational orientation meeting for all interested students and faculty is at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Cooperage. The National Graduate School Achievement Program (NoGap) helps undergraduate students pursue their postsecondary studies at a Ph.D. granting graduate institution.

McNair Scholars who are accepted into the program benefit from supportive activities such as participating in a faculty mentorship and research project, attending the McNair Summer Institute, presenting research projects in a symposium, attending conferences, traveling to other campuses, and preparing for applying and enrolling in graduate school.

Eligible students must fall into at least on of the two following categories; low-income and first-generation OR belong to an ethnic minority group underrepresented in American Graduate Schools (African-American, Hispanic, American Indian/Alaskan Native). For more information, please contact Project Director Jeff Davis at davisje@sonoma.edu or 4-2698, Monique Pearl at 4-3131 or Daniel Smith at 4-2264 in Salazar 1040.
