The first book published by Janet Hess, Assistant Professor of African Studies, Hutchins, entitled "Art and Architecture in Postcolonial Africa" has been listed by YBP Liberary Services as among the top twenty bestselling texts in African history in 2006. The ranking is prestigious in its inclusion of a host of disciplines - African history, sociology, biography, political analysis, and the history of art, among others. Nobel Peace Prize Winner Wole Soyinka's "You Must Set Forth at Dawn," for example, was number two on the list of twenty. Books addressing the African AIDS epidemic, genocide in Rwanda, the Middle Passage of African Americans back to African, and African feminist philosophy were also included in the ranking.
