Flu Shot Time at Student Health Center

It is flu season, and the Centers for Disease Control is now encouraging flu vaccine for those wishing to decrease their risk of becoming ill with influenza or spreading it to others. Vaccine for the 06-07 season is now available at the Student Health Center while supplies last, says Georgia Schwartz, Director.

Prices for annual flu shots are the same as last year and serve to cover the cost of vaccine purchase: $15 for students and $25 for staff and faculty. Individuals may be seen on a drop-in staff and vaccine available basis before 10:30 a.m. most Monday-Thursday mornings and 9-11 a.m or 1:30-3:30 p.m. most Fridays.

Fundraising Opportunity for Children's School

The Children's School is participating in the COMMUNITYsmart program and can receive cash donations. This is a direct result of COMMUNITYsmart cardholders shopping at participating local merchants displaying the COMMUNITYsmart logo. The Children's School is officially enrolled in the program under two different accounts the "Parent Club" and the "School Fund." Either one can be selected.

The Parent Club account earnings are used for many purposes, such as continuing development of the parent porch, instructional materials for the classroom, and playground equipment. The School Fund account is used for professional development of staff, special projects, as well as scholarships for the children of the school staff.

To sign up, submit a card order online by visiting www.communitysmart.com. There is no charge. With this card, participating merchants donate a portion of their proceeds from each purchase to the account of choice. The COMMUNITYsmart points can also be donated to the school.
