John Steiner, Holocaust Studies (Emeritus), recently published an article in the Cologne Journal of Sociology and Social Psychology called "Adorno and the Authoritarian Personality." The article is an historical review of Theodor Adorno's milestone study in social science research on the subject of the authoritarian personality. It demonstrated why there has been so little innovative and comprehensive research on the subject in postwar Germany. Steiner also gave a lecture recently in Sacramento to a group of about 30 World War II veterans and their families, some of whom were liberators of Nazi death camps, about his experience as a Holocaust survivor and researcher.

Kristen Daley, Theatre Arts , presented a paper entitled "Breaking Boundaries--A Look at Gender and Identity in Hip-Hop Dance" at the 2004 International Conference on Arts and Humanities recently.

Sam Scalise, Informational Technology, has had two articles published recently in Syllabus. They include: What It Really Takes to Support a Learning Management System, Syllabus, March 31, 2004 and The Future of eLearning in Learning Management Systems, Syllabus, February 4, 2004.

Senior Geology majors Nathan Swanson and Matt Mangel presented results of their research  projects in a poster session at the annual convention of the Geological Society of America Cordilleran (Western) section in Boise, Idaho recenlty.  Swanson's research is on "trace element geochemistry of the Ward Creek metamorphic sequence and Big Oat Creek metabasalt, Cazadero, Calif." Mangell's research project is on "A greenschist facies metatonalite in the Franciscan." Such presentations are rare for undergraduates and are a significant honor, says geology professor Rolfe Erickson. "Both studies resulted in significant additions to our knowledge of the local geology."  The posters are on display in Darwin Hall, third floor, through May.
