Great Sportsmanship on the Court and OffBrandon Bronzan My wife and I are season ticket holders for the University of Arizona men's basketball games, so were in the cheering section for the recent game with Sonoma State. From the time your team took the floor until we left McKale Center, we were impressed with the sportsmanship of your young men and coaches. When your starting team was announced, each starter ran to the University of Arizona coaches, shook hands and wished them well. A few even went to the referees and did the same thing. During the game, we saw your team members offer a hand to Wildcats that had fallen to the floor. And, after the game, during the almost obligatory handshakes, the SSU team again seemed to be very sincere in their congratulations to the U of A staff and coaches. This high standard of sportsmanship was displayed by a team that never was out of the game, fighting hard for every point, and really carrying the game to the favored Wildcats. My wife and I agreed that in the years we have spent watching U of A basketball, we had never seen a visiting team that measured up like your Seawolves. After the game, there was a brief ceremony honoring Mike Bibby, a former Wildcat, and formally retiring his number. Your team stayed for that, sitting on the floor under their basket, and applauding the speakers and Mike Bibby. Then they asked to have their picture taken with Mike, and he agreed to do so. What a nice, well-coached bunch of young men they are. You can be proud of them, and we wish them the very best of luck during the coming season. John S. Walker
