Combining VP Posts is a Good Start

I would like to commend Dr. Arminana for his decision to combine the offices of Vice President of student affairs and Vice President of Enrollment management. Many of us have complained that too many of the sacrifices have been made by lecturers and not enough by administration. Far too many other University Presidents would have responded to the retirement of Dr. Link by simply hiring a replacement at the same salary.

By creating this combined department, Dr. Arminana has shown his commitment to the principle that economies have got to observed everywhere, not just in instruction. It makes it much easier for the rest of us to bear these burdens when we know they are being shared by everyone. My thanks also to Dr. Crabbe for taking on these new duties.

When I consider that Dr. Arminana has also responded to our requests for finding funding of endowed Chairs, and got results in matter of months, I am deeply pleased and impressed with his willingness to take suggestions and respond to our concerns. Things are still not perfect, of course, but credit should be given when it is due.

Keep up the good work, Dr. A.
