Jennifer L. Shaw, Art and Art History, has two recent publications. Her essay "Frenchness, Memory, Abstraction:  The Case of Pierre Puvis de Chavannes," appears in Nationalism and French Visual Culture, 1870-1914, eds. June Hargrove and Neil McWilliam, National Gallery of Art Washington, Center for Advanced Studies in the Visual Arts, 2005. She was invited to contribute an essay on "Symbolism" which appears in the reference text The New Dictionary of the History of Ideas, Charles Scribner and Sons, December 2004. 

Parabola magazine has accepted a recent article by Elizabeth Carothers Herron, Arts & Humanities. "Why Are We Here?" was written in response to the question posed in the theme of the issue "Body and Soul."

Elizabeth C. Martínez, Chicano and Latino Studies and Modern Languages & Literature, participated in the Bilingual Program of the Sonoma County Library in two sessions during May. The first was held at the Sonoma Valley branch and the second at the Healdsburg branch, each presenting on the contributions of Mexican writer Elena Poniatowska, with readings, both in English and Spanish, from her works. Martínez also made a presentation during May at Analy High School in Sebastopol, for Spanish 3 students who are interested in majoring in Spanish when they attend college.
