A GREAT WORKOUT - Jim Liebich, left, works with his beginning fencing class at the Rec Center.

Fencing Classes Offered at Rec Center

Ever had visions of wielding a sword like they do in the movies? Maybe you fenced once years ago and want to get back into it? Well now you can! The inMotion program is offering fencing this semester with no experience necessary to join in.
This class is instructed by Moniteur Jim Liebich, head of the SSU Fencing Club. Jim has 10 years experience as a fencer, more than four of them as an instructor. He has competed in local, national, and international fencing tournaments. Jim coaches students of all levels, and has been awarded a degree from the prestigious La Fédération Française d'Escrime to instruct fencers. Participants are encouraged to come any time throughout the semester to both the Monday and Wednesday classes, but attendance is not mandatory. Class time is 1-2 p.m. in the Niagara Room at the Rec Center. Contact Jim Liebich at 228-6412 or e-mail jim.liebich@sonoma.edu. Contact the Rec Center for inMotion information at 4-4FUN or www.sonoma.edu/campusrec.
